Do you soon to say Famous contemporary paintings. Today as in the past, identifying a painter or portraitist as a celebrity leaves the time he finds. If we go to see contemporary art, and the paintings in particular, the offer appears so wide as to leave Befuddledby. What are the parameters of judgement? What do you rely on to assess the reputation of an artist? The answer could be the same one that gave a day the French playwright, director and writer Jacques Deval during an interview: “of certain authors everything is illustrious, except for the works”. In fact, it is not said that a famous artist produces good paintings, and on the other hand not always good paintings are the work of famous artists.
Sure is that some aspects play in favor of the artist’s popularity, be it niche or aimed at the general public. Among these, the first is professionalism. A true artist paints or sculpts for work and not as a hobby, so his paintings or sculptures cost. This is a second point to be kept in mind to distinguish the serious art and appreciated by the unknown. Not necessarily those who love art will have to pay crazy figures, but certainly no one can buy a picture of a contemporary artist affirmed… free! The awards and accolades earned during the artist’s professional career are another noteworthy feature. Ditto for work commissioned by public bodies or private clients and for events that have taken place in the country of origin or abroad. Events, fairs, temporary exhibitions… A famous artist must “be There”!
